Itinerary
Our tour begins with the pick-up from the hotel in the city of Cusco in our private mobility, to go to the town of Maras, passing through very typical towns and beautiful landscapes that we can enjoy on our tour, arrival and visit to the following places:
Maras-Moray
We will begin the adventure starting from the city of Cusco towards Maras where we can appreciate the Urubamba Mountain Range and the snow-capped mountains «La Verónica» (5682 meters above sea level) and «El Chikón» (5530 meters above sea level) and where we will have a typical drink made from corn. We will continue towards the archaeological complex of Moray, the only one of its kind in the region, these are giant natural holes or terraces, where the Incas built platforms or terraces, each with its respective irrigation system, what is most striking is the change in average annual temperature that varies from the surface and bottom of the platforms. It is believed that this agricultural laboratory was built on a rocky surface, and that is why it never floods during the rainy season. We will spend an hour at this site to examine its construction and design, then we will sit down to enjoy our box.
Salinera
We will arrive at Salineras or salt wells (located northwest of Maras), where we will find 3000 small wells 1.80 meters deep that are built on the slopes of the «Qaqawiñay» mountain that are watered every three days with the dry season. salt water emanating from a natural spring located at the top of the wells. As the days go by, these sediments will dry out, showing a range of colors and textures. The salt in the wells will solidify and then be processed for consumption. human. Finally we will be returning to the city of Cusco at approximately 3:30.
