Trek to Choquequirao 4 Days

Itinerary

Choquequirao is a lost Inca city located in the Vilcabamba Valley in southern Peru. It is one of the most important Inca cities, after Machu Picchu. It was built in the 15th century and abandoned in the 16th century. Choquequirao is known for its impressive architecture, agricultural terraces, and panoramic views of the Apurimac Canyon.

At the indicated time, pick up from the hotel at 6:00 a.m. To begin the trip to the town of Cachora, on the way we will stop for a moment to appreciate the archaeological remains of Tarawasi from the bus, and then continue to the Cunyac bridge between the departments of Cusco and Apurimac, then we will pass through the district of Curawasi and Saywute to finally reach Cachora (10:00 approx). From this place we will begin our walk along a gently sloping path to reach the Capuliyoc pass (2800 meters above sea level) and the place of our lunch after two hours of walking, then we will head towards the town of Chaquisqa (1930 meters above sea level) where the entire The journey is downhill and the landscape is impressive and beautiful and the climate is warm. In this place we will have our first camp, it is a three-hour walk.

After breakfast (5:00 am), we will continue with our walk towards Rosalinas beach (1550 m.a.s.l.), and then climb the very early slope towards Santa Rosa (2100 m.a.s.l.), place of our lunch, which this journey is the most difficult which we will do in three hours, and then ascend to Maranpata (2850 masl) which is a gentler climb that during this journey you will be able to appreciate the entire path of the first day and the vegetation that exists in this place then we will travel a straight stretch towards Sunchupata, where we will have our camp and the walking time is two hours, from here it is one hour to Choquenquirao.

Very early after breakfast (5:00 am) we will go to Choquenquirao, which is an hour’s walk to receive the sunrise of Choquenquirao. This site will be visited for three hours, always accompanied by the guide who will accurately explain about this important Inka refuge. At the indicated time we will begin the return to Sunchupata and begin to descend to Santa Rosa, place of our lunch, and then descend to Rosalinas beach, which is a one-hour stretch. Arriving at Rosalinas, we will go to the town of Chaquisqa, which is two hours away. Rosalinas and that we will camp in this place.

A good breakfast will be served in Chaquisqa (06:00 am) and return along the same road to Cachora, which is the slope that was descended on the first day, which is gentler with a two-hour ascent until reaching the Capuliyoc pass and which From here it is two more hours to the town of Cachora, which is a much gentler stretch and we will be arriving at approximately 12:00 pm. On the way we will appreciate exotic flora and fauna as well as views of imposing snow-capped mountains and the impressive Apurimac canyon. In the afternoon we will move to the thermal medicinal baths of Qonoq where we will rest for an hour and then continue to the city of Cusco where we will arrive at 8:00 pm, transfer to the hotel and end of our services.
